It’s A Bad Time To Buy A Portable Player

You may be itching to get your hands on a new or better iPod, Zune, Zen or other portable music or music/video player,Zune Contest but now may be the worse time of the year to buy a new player.

Why?

All of the major manufacturers are readying new models with improved features like wireless downloads, better screens and bigger hard drives to be released in the Fall just in time for the big Christmas shopping season.

iPod NanoFor example, insider sources have a Apple releasing a new iPod with the same cool touch screen that the iPhone has. And speaking of the iPhone and new cheaper model seems likely. Microsoft is also certain to be adding more features to its Zune line of players including improved wireless song sharing. The Slacker portable players should also become available soon. (You can find a round-up of more new product rumors that we published a couple of weeks ago here.)

And if you’re a bargain hunter like most of us, just as these hot new players hit the marketplace; the perfectly great models currently available will be put on sale to make room for the latest gadgets. Watch OurDigitalMusic.com in the coming months and we’ll keep you posted…

I’ve gotten hooked on podcasts lately. Unfortunately my commute is shorter than most of the shows I like, so I have to stop in the middle and remember the timestamp, then fast forward back to that spot. I’d love to get an iPod with a resume feature but was afraid I couldn’t afford it. You’ve given me hope that I might be able to get myself one for Christmas after all.
