Today the US Court of Appeals declined to delay implementation of the Copyright Royalty Board’s recent decision to increase Internet radio sound recording royalty rates by up to 1200% (that is not a typo!) and to impose a $500 per-channel “minimum fee” that will total more than $1 billion annually. iTunes Lowers Prices On Some New Artist Downloads

Prices at iTunes and most other download stores have held steady at $.99 per song and $9.99 per album. But last week iTunes lowered prices with “Next Big Thing”,  an ongoing promotion offering 40 up-and-coming artists at $5.99 and $6.99 for full album downloads. There are no discounts for single songs.
Two standouts for the initial list worth paying extra attention to are The Greencards and The Bird & The Bee.
