Its coming as social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook and Friendster moved to open their services up to the outside developers and marketers of cool little widgets that update automatically with things like a band’s tour dates or play a song. - Google launched OpenSocial which creates a single standard for widgets and applications across web sites. Many major social networking sites including Friendster and MySpace signed on. Facebook has not so far.
- But Facebook appears ready to announce major moves into music this week. Stay tuned.
- EMI joined WMG, Sony and many indie labels in making their product available on imeem’s viral song and video streaming service. EMI also signed a deal with Music Choice.
