Music Sales Down Again in 2007

Music sales dropped another 9.5% in the U.S. last year compared to 2006 despite a 45% increase in digital downloads.

500.5 million albums sold in various formats (CD’s, cassettes, etc) last year down 15%.  844.2 million individual downloads were sold in 2007 compared to 588.2 million last year.  But that increase was not enough to offset the loss in CD sales and many record labels are cutting staff, promotion and new signings.
