5 More New Indie Bands You’ll Want To Know About

The SonsNightshade
From the musical Mecca that is Derby, UK (their words, not mine) The Sons don’t produce your typical guitar indie-pop. Rather music which is slightly dark, much cleverer and often lovely. With some impressive tour support slots under their belt and having released their first full length album last year, The Sons’ talents are certainly not going unnoticed.

The New UpTraffic
This hardworking and well-established band hales from San Francisco.  With a sound that mixes genres and styles ranging from pop to punk, electronica to reggae, this five piece create catchy and surprisingly accessible rock n roll music, and they’re very easy to like.

The VipersSatellite Boys
The best thing about The Vipers is the fact that they incorporate every sub-culture… Punks love them, Rockabillys love them and your average Joe loves them. Not being part of a scene is rare these days so when a band like this comes along take notice and go see them play. If you like your rock and roll dirty, savage and impossibly exciting, then this is the band for you.

SeLoThe Dragon’s Trap
The producer SeLo from Sydney, Australia has a stockpile of sugary beats.  Trying to recommend one of his tracks went like the following: ‘Oooo, I like the first track. Hmm, the second one is actually better. Dammit, wait, the third one is pretty good too.’ After a refereed debate with myself, I settled on ‘The Dragon’s Trap.’ It opens with a guitar riff that sounded like it was about to go on its own rendition of ‘Stairway to Heaven.’ But the real magic is when the orchestral music brings it all together. Horns and violins have always made me moist. ALSO check out ‘Heroin Party.’ It sounds like French bistro music.

Johnny TaylorLondon Town
The UK’s pop rock band, Johnny Taylor, turn a fairy tale into a festive song in ‘London Town.’ In a ridiculous parody of ‘Jack and Jill,’ the band services a jig with lyrics that should be credited for their wit and not to mention a folk-loving guitar. Definitely a song to get your energy going.
