We like to spotlight great niche music bloggers and Lara Kulpa really fits the bill. Her Crooner Culture is about the swinging swagger and sexy hip of the era of crooners. Think fedoras, martinis, tuxedo suits, fully sequined gowns, and old silver microphones.

Why did you choose this topic?
I’ve been a mad fan of this genre for many many years. As a 30-year-old single woman, watching the old movies, listening to the tunes… well, it just proves that I was born about 50 years too late. I could’ve been Ava Gardner or Marilyn Monroe!

With the neo-crooners like Michael Buble, Norah Jones, and Harry Connick, Jr., Gen-X’ers have something out there to pique their interest and that’s what I’m trying to do. Music takes you places without changing your physical location. I want to bring people back to the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s when life was all about having a good time and looking good while doing it.

What would your readers be surprised to know about you?

Hmmm… surprised? I think Crooner Culture readers would be shocked to learn that I worked for a country radio station for a while as a live-on-location girl. My friend and I introduced acts like Shania Twain, got kissed on the forehead by Toby Keith, and drank Jim Beam with Montgomery Gentry.
