Napster’s new download store is now 100% DRM free mp3’s with music from all four major and thousands of independent labels. The subscription service remains open as well and the two make a convenient combination – “listen to anything and buy what you want with a click”.
Selection is fabulous with 6 million tracks; about 800,000 more than iTunes. But with pricing at 99 cents a track and $9.95 an album, Napster’s is slightly more expensive than Amazon’s 5.2 million track mp3 offering or Wal-Mart’s which currently has only EMI and WMG mp3 product.
