On another b5media site (and my previous home), High Def Delight, Christopher Swenson wrote an article essentially saying that it is time to ditch MP3. MP3 is quite the ancient file format (approved in 1991) yet it is the prominent file format in the digital music market as almost all digital music players are referred to as MP3 players because, well, they all play MP3 players. While I agree with the post that we should start to transfer to other codecs like AAC, I believe MP3 is here to stay for quite some time.

Hey everybody, my name is Zach Flauaus and you may recognize me from my previous b5 spot, High Def Delight. Well, I’ve moved onto Our Digital Music where I will blog about all the latest digital music news from the iTunes/iPod monopoly to the smaller folks like the Microsoft Zune and other MP3 players. I’ll be phasing out of both OurDigitalMusic and TheRockDose this week and I’m sure more capable hands will be taking over. I love blogging for b5media and all of the great bloggers on the Music Channel, but I have to admit that my schedule does not permit me to do everything or at least to do it as well as I want to.

AOL Music has added two new genre sites: The Boot and The Boom Box dedicated exclusively to country and urban (hip hop and R&B). AOL also runs Spinner for indie music and PopEater for fans of pop. AOL Music is the Web’s most trafficked music site according to some charts.
